Fiona Kennedy

I reflect upon the MSc in Neurology and Gerontology programme in the RCSI School of Physiotherapy as a pivotal point in my career.

Having entered it with a background of over 15 years' clinical experience in neurology, I found my interest in frailty/ageing grew immensely from the wonderful new learning and stimulating lectures the programme provided. As a result, I focused my research on this area and I have continued to work as a researcher upon completion of the MSc.

The course content was relevant and applicable to my clinical practice which I feel has also enhanced my development as a clinician.

Returning to academia after a long time was challenging, however, I found the lecturers and RCSI staff and facilities provided a positive and supportive environment which enabled me to manage this change. I would highly recommend this course.
